Unexpected Family Party
For New Years Eve my friend Taylor and I intended on going to New York City but I had come down with a nasty chest rattling body aching cold and she had to work the next morning at Petco washing puppies. Our glamorous night would dwindle into a lackluster night, so we thought. Our immediate thought to saving the night was chinese food, like everyone else in our entire town of Billerica. We went to the jade a famous restaurant for Chinese cuisine. The parking lot was over flowing and the building was packed like a can of sardines. There was a cacophony of yelled takeout orders, intoxicated raucous customers, and my favorite of all laughter. Once we were seated on the familiar nostalgic maroon seats our night seemed to start brightening up. We enjoyed our hot food and drinks in tacky pineapple glasses. After we were done we faced another dilemma, what to do next! Neither of us had the mental capacity or stamina for a party. I called my oldest sister who is super cool and asked if we could join her party, she is 32. We ended up spending the night with my family, the last place I intended on being at 19 on New Years Eve. Instead of resenting that I could not see the enchanting ball drop in person we jumped right into version of fun, which turned out to be not as lame as I thought. We played party games, sang, drank champagne, and laughed a whole lot. I love my family, and was glad to be reminded I don't need the glitz or an enormous event to find joy in celebrating, only the people who truly bring out the happiness in you.

Hayley-family party
The last family party I attended (not including Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners) was a party at my house in the summer for a weekend. My family came up some time in August, so it was hot. Everyone wore shorts most days, bright colors, bathingsuits and sun dresses. Men wore hats to keep sun out of there face. Everyone wore some type of sandal. And at night it was mostly sweats. There were a bunch of us so we all had weaved lawn chairs sitting around the pool, fire, and table. They were short and metal with different fabrics depending on what chair you had. Some had little pillow head rests on them. When it was time to eat, the dishes we ate off of were the sturdy plastic ones, and solo cups, so we didnt have to wash that many dishes.
