wire sculpture

I found this wire sculpture very interesting, because how Derek Kinzett has used the wire and curve it to shape the lady foot in a very simple and unique way. its interesting how artists can implement there art in many different ways no matter what they are dealing with.

I think this piece is visually interesting because the fact that yes it is a table and someone could make this so easily but he did secondary contours and made the criss cross on the table something that gave it a little something extra. I like how in the chair it isn't just straight for the seat, I like how it is curved for someone to feel comfortable to sit on. I think that makes it visually interesting.

I found the wire work helfen interesting. This piece interested me and was visually appealing because it reminded me of an old roller coaster, the spokes and circles throughout out the work are intriguing and then when you look at the entire piece it looks like a kitchen cabinet of some source with bottles and utensils.

Gun

I like how the gun is simple but it's still obvious as to what is it. You can see the inside which is similar to a real gun.

This sculpture shows a good example of form because you can see all three dimensions from any view, it takes on what it reference perfectly and looks like it could be the actual skeleton of the tool. you can also see inside where the mechanics are and almost how it functions.

I thought that this piece was very different from his other ones, because this one seemed to resemble more of a scene than just a single object. It really stood out to me because it also looked like a painting or a sketch while the others clearly looked like sculptures made from wire. I think this is because the piece itself is so flat looking because of the lines that he uses that it appears to be only 2-D.

Brayden Daigneault

This is visually interesting because of the objects he created possess a strong sense of realism.  Each object has unique contours that are demanding to shape and bend.  The guitar head for example is a complex shape that he was able to successfully able to manipulate the wire to imitate.  The complexity of the guitar is visually interesting in and of itself.  The precise shapes he created out of wire are very interesting to look at and evaluate. 

Teddy Bear

This form is visually interesting because of how the wire is curved so perfectly and how it forms such a nice teddy bear. The lines are so simple and it is very symmetrical. I like how you can tell what it is right away. I also like how the teddy bear is sitting not standing up.

Dolly

This form is visually interesting because the line work is basically perfect and you can clearly tell that this is a dolly. The wheels are so well done. This piece is also very interesting because their are simple parts but then their are complicated carts and they seem to balance each other out.

Abstract Ceramic Sculpture

Inspiration: I couldn't find the artists inspiration or actual title but if i had to make a guess, i would say aliens was the inspiration, aliens.

Im not sure how to attach an image, but above is the link to the sculpture that caught my eye. Its Mask:Antelope (Walu) It was made in the 19-20th century and inspired by the Dogon People. Im really into skulls, antlers and taxidermy objects. I found this to be similar but somewhat futuristic because of the silver plating or wood rather. This drew me in most because its animal inspired and incredibly unique. Its so strange that you want to keep analyzing it over and over.

'Sailboat' Snejana Simeonova, 2008

This sculpture is made of marble. I see the artist's vision of a sail boat. I like how the curves bring your eye to the bottom of it and then there are curved lines on the bottom that remind me of the ripples under a boat in water. I like how it is abstract but you can almost tell what he was thinking. Or at least guess what he was thinking. On the right that almost reminds me of the part of the boat that is in the air. But it also reminds me of the shape of a boat. I like the abstractions.

"Sculpture to be Lost in the Forest" by Jean Arp

I picked this sculpture because at first I thought it was a hand, but at a second glance realized that it was just an abstract pile of what look like gold rocks. They appear to be attached to each other but also look as if they are balanced and could slide off at any moment. I really like this piece and I think that it shows a lot of abstraction as it could mean one thing to the artist and something completely different to the viewer.

"Explore Identity In The Virtual Age," by John Rainey, 2012

 

In this sculpture, the artist is trying to show us how do people these days have multiple identities, and that these identities are shown differently through social media, and our physical life. he is trying to show us how representation has changed 

in a time of social media and internet.

Also, the artist used people's Facebook profiles to create sculptures, to create a representation of ourselves that is stuck between the digital life and our real physical life.

"Eyes"

Louise Bourgeois. Made in 1982 out of marble. 

I feel as though this piece isn't finished because of the starting carvings on the one corner. As for the inspiration I'm not quite sure but as an educated guess I would say that the artist was inspired by the human/animal features, such as the eyes. Or it could just mean that their are people watching you, I say that because it sort of looks as thoug the eyes are on top of like a building ledge, so I could be a medaphore for people are always watching you.

4. Write a brief description, including what inspired it. If you can't find out what it is inspired by, then make an educated guess and describe why. "Bird In Flight," by Constantin Brancusi, 1923

He concentrated not on the physical aspects of the bird but on it's movement. In "Bird In Space" wings and feathers are eliminated, the swell of the body is elongated, and the head and the beak are reduced to a slanted oval plane. Balanced on a slender conical footing, the figure's upward thrust is unfettered.
